Gym Professor Newsletter July 2015

Since our last newsletter, we have 4 all-new exercise articles for you; 3 of them include a video demonstration and workout tips. Here you go:
    
Reverse-Grip Pull-Ups
The training short-cut to hitting the back and biceps. We take a look at this multi-lever/ multi-muscle exercise and provide some helpful technique tips to work the back and bi's to the max.
      
Lever Low-W-Press
My modern-day homage to a weight training classic - a W-Press performed in a landmine. This is a great variation and when used in the suggested superset really hits the entire shoulder complex.
       
Farmer's Walk
One of the simplest of exercises to perform and yet it certainly doesn't get any easier. Check out this article on the modern-day classic that is Farmer's Walk.
        
Drag Curls
Almost every guy in the gym performing half-a-dozen exercises for biceps, but I never see this one: Drag Curls: and it's one of the best. Look better in a tee and feel the burn, with Drag Curls.

Introducing the monster mitts of Jedd at Diesel Crew:
I haven't been able to train Barbell Curls without serious burning pain in my wrists and elbows for years. I finally said, "T HELL With Them," because I was sick of the pain, and used other exercises instead. However, with Globe Gripz on the bar, I am able to get out of that extreme supination position that Barbell Curls force upon you, and I can actually do them again. Now, the only burning is from the serious PUMP that I get!

Newsletter Update

Hi all,

We've received a bit of an influx of new newsletter subscribers this week - thank you! As the newsletters are sent in real-time (i.e. not spam carefully sent in a set sequence), I've received a few emails asking me to send through past newsletters, so, here's what I'll do...

At the beginning(ish) of each month, I'll drop you a quick message (like this one) with links to the various articles and newsletters that have been posted the previous month. From time-to-time, I'll re-post more popular articles anyway. Also, I'll try and remember to upload each article to the website - this way, if you have a particular query, you can use our website Search to see if I've written about it yet :) .

Weight Training

Sad I know, but weight training is one of the loves of my life. No matter what your physique goal or sporting activity, weight training can help toward this endeavor. There are many widespread misconceptions about training with weights (or any type of resistance training for that matter), not helped by misleading advertising, but, hopefully the Gym Professor website, this blog, & my constant use of analogies will help to clarify things and set you on the right track in the gym.

Realising that many of you will be looking for guidance, the Gym Professor website (& eventually the Gym Professor blog) will include:


For successful weight training, I would suggest you have a basic understanding of nutrition and anatomy (in particular kinesiology). Information on both can be found on the Gym Professor website.

Incredibly helpful & thorough eBooks (mostly my own - time willing!) will be released in due course, with in-depth information and even more guidance on the above subject matters. So, if you find the Gym Professor website useful, please consider purchasing one of the eBooks.
